La Cubierta kicked off a great night with great sets from Peel and The Evening Attraction, then packed the place for Post Animal, The Symposium, and The Walters. If you haven’t listened to these Chicago DIY gems, then please do it on the recommendation from all of us here at Slime Time.
Peel and The Evening Attraction were new to me, but they both put on a great show. We humble Slime Timers unfortunately missed the first half of Peel’s set because it takes a while to get a group of eight hardcore babes from point A to point B, but we were lucky enough to walk into some great sound as their set wrapped up. After Peel finished, The Evening Attraction came on, showed off their sweet music skills and gave us something we could dance to.
As Post Animal’s set started, you could see that Chicago DIY has this special power where the bands and the crowds can perfectly match each other’s energy. All of the punk kids in the audience got down to Post Animal’s fluid garage-psych sound, and Post Animal gave a marvelous performance in return. That energy was going strong all through The Symposium until The Walters played their last note for the night.
Keep your eye out for upcoming shows with these fabulous bands, you won’t want to miss it.
